If your tattoos heal choppy and your blends come out inconsistent, this is for you.
If your tattoos heal choppy and your blends come out inconsistent, this is for you.
So the advice you keep getting is to just tattoo more, which is a given, nobody's arguing that.
But you can make it a whole lot easier on yourself by not just leaning on skin as your only practice.
It's like trying to lift 300 pounds before you've built up with the lighter weights. You might be able to do it, but you'll get there faster without hurting yourself if you put in reps at every level first.
So practicing with colored pencils lets you build that same skill on the side. Working up saturation in smooth passes, and blending gradients, training your eye and muscle memory without the pressure of a permanent tattoo.
Same eye, same control you need on skin, on paper where the reps are free.
